Dua When Leaving Home

Arabic Text

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Transliteration

Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

Translation

"In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah."

When to Recite

This beautiful dua should be recited every time you leave your home. It is a Sunnah practice that takes only a few seconds but carries immense blessings and protection.

Benefits of This Dua

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that when we recite this dua upon leaving our homes, we receive special divine protection. He said:

"When a person goes out of his house and says: 'In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, there is no power and no strength except with Allah,' it will be said to him: 'You are guided, defended and protected.' The devils will go far from him."

Bismillah (In the name of Allah) - We begin every action by remembering Allah
Tawakkul (Trust) - We place complete reliance on Allah alone
Acknowledging Dependence - We recognize that all power belongs to Allah

Additional Note

Some narrations add that when you say this dua, an angel responds: "You have been guided, sufficed, and protected," and another devil says to his companions: "How can you deal with a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?"
